Now that I've really jumped headfirst into this fitness and nutrition journey, I've been scouring the land (read: the internet) for healthy smoothie recipes. Some of them are completely disgusting, some of them are extremely tasty and unhealthy, and some are just kind of bland. I figured with the process of trial and error, I could eventually arrive at some conclusion of a healthy and delicious smoothie. I was right! Below is the recipe for a tried and true recipe, and my go-to healthy smoothie.

Frozen strawberries, about 1 1/2 cups (you can use fresh, I use frozen just to make it nice and cold)
1 banana1 cup unsweetened, original almond milk
1-2 cups of kale
1 tbsp. of ground flax seed
2 tsp. of chia seeds
2/3 cup of old fashioned oats
2 tbsp. of honey (raw, local honey is preferable)
A blender, preferably with a smoothie setting like the one I use, although I truly recommend the Vitamix after trying my mother-in-law's!

This smoothie is PACKED with protein, as chia seeds and flaxseed are both superfoods, not to mention the kale which is a great source of protein. The other bonus about this smoothie, is that for nursing mothers, there are some key ingredients that can boost your supply. It's a great smoothie all around with incredible health benefits!

    1. It makes enough for my husband and I to have pretty large smoothies. If you want your smoothie to be a whole meal, this makes roughly 2 recipes. Otherwise, you could make 4 smaller smoothies.
