Calling all moms! Are you thinking about returning to college and finishing up your (or starting a new) degree? Same here! I recently re-enrolled in classes and I can't wait to get started on August 22nd! In fact, I've already been exploring the syllabus and course information online because I'm so exited! I'm majoring in Digital Photography and I couldn't be happier that I finally decided on a major I'm completely happy with. Those of you that know me know I've changed between teaching, radiology, and nursing like a ridiculous amount of times, but I finally realized my true passion is in working for myself and photography is a huge part of that. I'm stoked to expand my knowledge and reach my full potential in the coming years of school! And of course, being a mom, part of this journey is showing my babies that I can and did do it - earning a bachelor's degree is possible, no matter what situation you come from!
Today, I wanted to share my list of 10 things a mom needs for college. This list can apply to anyone, really, but to my fellow moms out there who might've forgotten what school is like - this one goes out to you!
1. Bullet Journal!
You might've read my recent posts about bullet journaling (like how I use it for my blogging and how I save money with my bullet journal) but if you haven't, just know that my bullet journal is literally a game changer! I'm working on pages for school as we speak that I plan to share with y'all, but I know that my bullet journal will be key in keeping me organized this semester.
2. A great laptop!
Seriously, how far can you get in college these days without a great laptop? My guess is not very far, but I'm not sure because I'm fortunate enough to have an HP Pavilion Notebook! Up to 7 hours of battery life keeps you powered all day with charge to spare for your well earned free time (which, as a mom, believe me, it's WELL earned)! With a truly powerful audio experience, I can be sure I don't miss anything when listening to content for assignments and my music sounds great when I'm tuning things out to study (because Doc McStuffins isn't exactly conducive to studying)! Last but not least, this laptop is sleek and GOLD which perfectly complements my style! Whatever you're passionate about, get ready to take it to the next level with this laptop; it's packed with all the features you need to spark your creativity and get your learn on! The HP Pavilion Notebook is ALL NEW and can be found at your local WalMart!
Another thing that was really important to me was the affordability of this HP laptop. Family life can be tight financially sometimes, and I wanted something competent enough for all of my school work and blog work, but that wouldn't break the bank. Extremely happy with the price point of this laptop!
3. Yoga pants!
Because let's be honest, moms don't always have time to get dressed up, and sometimes you just
want to rock yoga pants in college. And you should! You go, Glen Coco!
4. A fabulous lipstick!
Nothing adds to your confidence like a fabulous lip color during a presentation! Dress for success on presentation days!
5. A chic backpack!
I love picking out cute backpacks for school. Something about bright colors, cute patterns, and organization that really gets me stoked to start and complete a semester!
This is absolutely one of the things everyone needs for college. It's important to stay hydrated, and if you're anything like me and water cold water ALL THE TIME, the hydroflask has your back! I can put ice in my bottle on a Monday morning and still have ice in it the next day!
7. Bobby pins.
For those days you really just want to throw your hair up and keep it out of the way. Mom problems, am I right? Probably a good idea to just grab a pack of 500 since you're inevitably going to lose them all in a year anyway, or is that just me?
Life is just better with a couple of cute headbands for those busy college days! Consider this one of my needs for college!
9. Great pens!
These are the pens I use in my bullet journal so they're definitely on my list of needs for college since I'm bullet journaling to stay organized but I'm so in love with these pens now that I recommend them for everything!
10. Laptop tray.
Sometimes as a mom I'm confined to working and studying on the bed or couch underneath or next to a sleeping baby. Of course, I don't dare wake the sleeping baby so a laptop tray is a life saver in these situations!
What other needs for college would you suggest for moms or adults returning to school? Let's discuss! If you're returning to school too, what are you going back for?
