Whether you’re a mom of a newborn and a toddler like me who is struggling to get sleep, or just someone wanting a better quality of sleep, I wanted to share 5 ways to get better sleep with you! After all, sleep is so important to your health, both physically and mentally!
- Turn off all electronics.
If you’re scrolling through your phone at night, it can actually hinder your sleep. While you might be tired, the light shining in your eyes can cause the natural “clock” in your body to think it’s daytime still. Turn everything off and give yourself a real chance to wind down and relax before sleep.
Breathe Right® Nasal Strips can help with any nasal congestion that might be preventing you, or your loved ones, from sleeping.
For instance, Husbear keeps me up at night with all the racket his nasal congestion causes! Granted, he’s broken his nose several times and has a hard time with it, even after surgery, but it keeps me up all night! I gave him a chance to try Breathe Right® Nasal Strips and boy, did it make a world of difference! Simply wash your face and remove all the dirt/oil and apply so the tabs cover the part of your nostril that flares. Then finish by rubbing the strip gently so the adhesive sticks. It was easy to apply and stayed on comfortably all night! We opted for the Extra Clear strips that are great for sensitive skin because the adhesive isn’t as strong. We all have sensitive skin in our little family, so we buy things for sensitive skin whenever we can.
They’re small and convenient to carry in a traveling bag if you decide to travel somewhere, too! I also love that they’re clear!
If you or a loved one has problems with nasal congestion, or you just want to prepare yourself for the upcoming cold season, our family highly recommends Breathe Right® Nasal Strips! I’m telling y’all, it makes a difference, and we slept so much better! A better night’s sleep makes for a better start the next day! We shop at Walmart a lot anyway, so it’s easy and convenient for us to pick some up during our trip for the upcoming weeks!

- Read before bed.
I find that reading a few pages of a book before bed helps me to relax and get ready for bed. I have an ereader that I lay down with, snuggle up, and start to read. I read during the day too, but often times, I read a chapter or so before bed, and it gets me tired enough to zonk right out!
- Stick to a schedule!
Head to bed around the same time every night, and you’ll likely start finding that you’re getting tired around that time every night. I notice that when I set a “bedtime” for myself, I usually fall asleep around that time, or I shut off the TV around then and give in to the sleepiness because I know it’s time! I have even set a bedtime reminder on my fitness tracker to remind me 30 minutes before bedtime that it’s time to wind down.
Even if you’re not doing heavy exercising, light to moderate physical activity every day can help your sleep, too! When I exercise, I notice a better night’s sleep, so I try to make sure I’m doing something every day, even on my “rest days.” I have active rest days, so instead of hitting the gym on my days off, I go for a hike or do something around the yard to keep active. It helps a ton with my sleep, and can for you, too!
So there you have it, my secrets for better sleep! What other tips do you have for getting better sleep at night?
