It's been a bit since I've blogged about blogging! GASP! I know, right? I've been so super busy lately dealing with life stuff and focusing on trying to eat healthier, that I've hardly had time to share some of my favorite blog tips with you. I get asked about plugins a lot, and truth be told, I don't use a ton of them here at Nerdy Foodie Mom because they can slow down your website and cause problems if you've got too many. However, these are the 5 WordPress plugins for growth that I cannot live without and I wanted to share with you too!

5 WordPress Plugins For Growth

MiloTree is my favorite plugin for generating growth and buzz to my social media networks. I'm able to choose from certain networks or rotate through all of the ones I want to work with at the same time which is extremely helpful! MiloTree offers a GOOGLE-FRIENDLY (super important to the integrity of your site) pop-up in which followers can easily and quickly follow you AND close out of it.

HelloBar is another way to grow your following using a small bar at the top of your page as prime real estate for conversions, followers, and more! I personally encourage people to sign up for my email newsletter in my HelloBar because I find that MiloTree is really great for growing social media, but HelloBar is my go to for email list growth. I have grown my email list into over 1,000 subscribers this way!

Akismet isn't as much for the actual growth itself, but you might notice an increase in spam comments as you grow your blog! I highly recommend Akismet for keeping the spam at bay. It's definitely helpful not having to spend time screening spam comments every day!

MailChimp is by far one of the biggest and most important plugins for growth that I use. I use it to cultivate my newsletter list, (hopefully) create conversions with my course and other sales funnels, and most importantly, I use it to keep in touch with you, my reader! I highly suggest MailChimp over other email services only because I've used a couple others and they weren't nearly as user friendly or easy to master!

PushAssist is a great plugin that I recently started using that allows people to sign up for push notifications from my site! It's a much quicker way for them to sign up for my content without having to worry about an email newsletter and entering their email for a form. This is a great way to reach an additional audience, especially if your demographic isn't big on emails!

These are my top 5 plugins for growth on WordPress. What others would you suggest to budding bloggers and website owners? Share in the comments below - what's your favorite plugin?

  1. Thanks for these tips! I use MiloTree, Akismet and Mailchimp already. I hadn’t heard of HelloBar, but I really like that it puts the “join” bar at the top of the page, rather than at the bottom of my posts. I’m definitely going to have to look into that

    1. Absolutely – I’m glad you were able to get something from my post! I love Hello Bar because it’s not obnoxious, but it’s definitely still noticeable.

  2. My friends have been recommending me MailChimp for months now, maybe I should give it a try then! By the way, thank you for sharing this! Might as well try the other plugins too.
